Considering Buying A Dogo Argentio Puppy? 3 Things You Should Know

by Kirk Hernandez

If you are considering buying a Dogo Argentio puppy for you and your family, you should learn about the puppy before you purchase it. This will help you know what to expect as well as plan better for its arrival. Keep reading for more information about this.

They Can Be Great Family Dogs

If taken care of properly, a Dogo Argentio can make a great family dog. One thing you must do is socialize your dog. You can do this by taking them to a dog park as they will be around other people and dogs. Take them on walks where they will be around people. There are many places you can take your dog, such as a pet store and many home improvement stores.

All of this is important as the Dogo Argentio is extremely protective of their family members. They are also affectional and playful as well. They do not like being left alone, however, so include your dog in as many family activities as you can.

Grooming Needs

Dogo Argentio dogs have short and smooth coats. They do shed, however, so you must brush your dog regularly to remove loose and dead hair. This will keep their coat, as well as their skin, healthy. One thing that is beneficial is that their coat is short, so shedded hair is much less noticeable. It will be there, however, so plan to vacuum regularly.

Give your dog a bath every couple of months or as needed. Their nails can grow fast, so get them trimmed when they become long. If you do not, the nails can crack causing a lot of pain for your dog. Clean their ears weekly to remove wax and brush their teeth. If you are not sure how to clean their ears or brush their teeth, ask a groomer or your veterinarian to help you learn.

Provide Training

It is important that you get your new puppy proper training when it becomes old enough. Because this breed is large and strong, they may be difficult to handle if they are not trained. This is especially true if you have small children in your home since you do not want your dog to be too rough with them.

Find a trainer in your area for group training. Or, you can start out with individual training. The trainer will teach your dog basic things like how to sit, stay, walk on a leash, leave it when you are feeding, and much more. The trainer can help your dog with other things like if they bark too much at home. Training is another way your dog can get socialization and exercise.

Talk with the breeder where you purchase your puppy for more information about Dogo Argentio puppies.
